Shipment Returns to MW4 Today: What We Know About the October 27 Drop, 24/7 Playlist and What's Next
Clear your schedule and lower your K/D expectations: Shipment returns to Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer today, Tuesday, October 27. It's the first map added after launch, and it was dated on Infinity Ward's official MW4 roadmap back on October 14. The official Call of Duty blog's launch maps and modes post repeats the date and lists Shipment as a "Post-Launch Map" for 6v6.
The studio teased it again on Monday. According to HappyGamer, Infinity Ward posted on X: "Your K/D has been warned. Shipment arrives tomorrow in #MW4."
What's confirmed about Shipment
- Setting: the official blog says this version sits on a Russian harbor, "hemmed in between the water and the concrete panel buildings" around it. The layout keeps the classic look and flow, with MW4's visual and gameplay upgrades on top (Call of Duty Blog).
- Map count: MW4 launched with 20 multiplayer maps, and Shipment makes it 21, Game Rant reports.
- Modes: Game Rant also says Shipment will support Core and Hardcore modes, including Team Deathmatch and new modes like Collateral and Inflation.
What isn't confirmed yet
Unlock time. Neither Infinity Ward nor Activision has given an exact time. Call of Duty playlist updates often land around 10 AM PT (12 PM ET, 11 AM in Ecuador), but that's only a pattern. Nobody has confirmed it for today. When we published this morning, we couldn't find any official post saying Shipment was live yet. Your playlist menu will tell you first.
A Shipment 24/7 playlist. Some players have asked for one in replies to Infinity Ward's roadmap post, but there's no official confirmation for MW4. MW4.GG notes that the roadmap graphic doesn't say whether Shipment will get a 24/7 playlist. The official blog doesn't list Shipment's playlists either. Until Infinity Ward says otherwise, expect the map in regular 6v6 rotations, and any dedicated queue would be a bonus.
Why it matters for your camo and XP grind
Shipment's tiny size means constant fights, and that's why grinders love it. MW4 ties standard gun camos to weapon level rather than headshot counts, and Game Rant points out that a compact map like Shipment is a fast way to farm Weapon XP.
The timing works out well. Infinity Ward's October 25 update tripled kill XP in Search and Destroy and Collateral, from 100 to 300 per kill. If Collateral or S&D show up on Shipment in the rotation, those round-based matches should be a lot more rewarding than they were at launch. Just remember those modes have no respawns, so the kill count per match stays low.
What's next
We covered the full schedule in our MW4 roadmap breakdown. Here's the rest of the run to Season 1, per the official roadmap and the Call of Duty Blog:
- October 29 — Possession (new mode). A Halloween party mode where taking out an enemy "possesses" them: you jump to their spot and take their Loadout.
- October 30 — Infected. The classic Survivors vs. Infected mode returns.
- November 6 — Season 1 for both MW4 and Warzone. Warzone gets the new Hajin battle royale map and Zodiac for Resurgence, per Dot Esports. More in our Warzone MW4 integration guide.
We'll update this story once Infinity Ward confirms Shipment is live or announces a dedicated playlist.
