GTA 6 Edge Preview: 12 New Screenshots, Police K9 Units, Criminal Profiles and a Justice Score Album
The Edge cover story we flagged earlier this week is out, and it's packed. On October 29, Edge 430's 16-page Grand Theft Auto VI feature went free to read on GamesRadar+. It's built on a roughly 90-minute session in which Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson played a current build with no script. The same day, Rockstar announced Justice's official score album.
12 brand-new screenshots
GameRant counts 14 Rockstar-provided images in the feature, 12 of them brand-new. They run from Vice City's waterfront and nightlife to trailer parks, swamps and a hammerhead shark underwater. Rockstar Report also points out a supermarket robbery getaway, Lucia firing from a passenger window and VCPD officer Méndez.
The cops have dogs now
The headline moment: Nelson's stolen motorcycle hits a near-invisible stinger strip and the couple go flying. They limp away, but a K9 unit joins the chase and an Alsatian (German Shepherd) pins Jason to the ground. Per Edge, everyone in the room urged Nelson not to shoot it.
Policing is smarter overall:
- A six-star wanted system, as GameSpot notes
- A "heat" system with on-screen icons for what police know: your description, outfit, weapon, partner and CCTV sightings
- Escaping means shedding clues. Change clothes, drop the weapon or split from your partner, and GameSpot adds you can destroy CCTV evidence
Criminal Profile and the Jason-Lucia bond
A new Criminal Profile tracks behaviour from "Professional" to "Irredeemable". Incapacitating or intimidating enemies keeps you calculating; shooting first makes you violent. Rockstar says the profile shapes how the story unfolds. Jason and Lucia's closeness sits on a four-point scale that rises with time together, like beach walks, cycling or the gym. Nelson wouldn't confirm whether they can marry.
Story jobs cost money
Some story jobs are gated until the pair raise cash first: gas station holdups, jewellery store heists, or stealing a specific car a fence wants through the WAINK app. Other systems Edge confirmed:
- Your arsenal lives in the car's trunk
- The Scooter Bros app delivers one of your cars for a small fee
- Every vehicle has a fuel gauge and engine health
- Car theft is risky. Some drivers are armed and fight back, and newer expensive cars can carry trackers that broadcast your location
Justice's score gets an album
Rockstar's Newswire confirms Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score by Justice, 30 tracks plus digital bonus tracks, out December 11 on streaming, 2CD and 3LP vinyl. New single "Pusher" feat. Gesaffelstein is streaming now. Polygon calls it "the perfect song to jam to while committing crimes". It joins "Flower in a Hurricane" on the album.
