GTA 6 Takes Over El Clásico: Rockstar's Pitchside LED Ads Flash "Coming November 19" at Barcelona vs Real Madrid

Rockstar's GTA 6 launch campaign just reached the biggest game in club football. During the LaLiga El Clásico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on Sunday, October 25, the pitchside LED boards at Spotify Camp Nou ran Grand Theft Auto VI ads several times, each ending with the game's title and the line "Coming November 19," as Beebom and Spanish outlet Vandal report.

What appeared on the boards

This wasn't a commercial break spot. It was the touchline advertising that TV viewers see all through live play. According to Vandal, the ad looped as a short sequence of images that ended on the release date.

  • Where: pitchside LED boards at Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona
  • When: El Clásico on October 25, 2026, kicking off at 9pm local time
  • Message: the Grand Theft Auto VI title plus "Coming November 19"
  • Confirmation: none from Rockstar so far. thegta6news notes the studio hadn't posted about it, and that fans spotted it on X before any outlet did

Vandal calls it Rockstar's biggest marketing campaign in Spain to date. Beebom points out that clips from Brazilian broadcaster CazéTV's feed spread quickly once the match ended. On the pitch, Real Madrid won 2-1, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice.

How many people saw it?

That's hard to say. Beebom and Vandal say the match reportedly draws around 650 million viewers, a figure that gets quoted for every Clásico. As thegta6news points out, nobody has a firm, sourced number yet. Even so, Rockstar could hardly pick a bigger stage for a few seconds of board time.

Part of a sports-heavy rollout

Rockstar has a reputation for barely advertising, but the El Clásico boards are the latest in a run of sports and real-world placements over the past week:

According to Beebom, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in September that GTA 6 still needs aggressive marketing despite the hype. Beebom also mentions the Miami Heat's GTA-themed "A Night in Vice City" game against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18. The demand looks real either way: Sensor Tower estimated 6.45 million digital pre-orders earlier this month, though that's a third-party estimate, not an official number.

What's next

  • November 12: preloading opens
  • November 18: the Heat's "A Night in Vice City" game, according to Beebom
  • November 19: GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

With just over three weeks to go, expect more of these placements in big live events. We'll cover any that Rockstar confirms.
